In this stage of the pandemic, how can Spain recover it’s 2nd position as a tourist destination? The application of technology and the development of innovative control systems that guarantee the health safety of tourists is the commitment of companies like IN2, specialized in the development and implementation of solutions that drive digital transformation to improve people’s lives.
The Cabildo de Lanzarote has presented this week at Fitur-Techy a pioneering project, Lanzarote Covid Safe. The project is based on the development of an efficient, fast, and safe system to certify the PCR Negative results of tourists. The system allows that, once the test has been performed in an accredited laboratory, the tourist receives a certificate in the form of a QR code on his smartphone. The application, developed by IN2, is based on blockchain technology, is interoperable with the European digital certificate, and complies with the standards of the European Commission.
Thanks to this app, tourists can accredit their Covid Free health status and the authorities are assured that the documentation is truthful. Airlines, hotels, railroads, restaurants, buses, and even cabs or chauffeur-driven vehicles will be able to apply for this accreditation in Lanzarote and control the spread of the virus in a safe way, without harming a sector that represents 35% of the Canary Islands’ wealth.
While waiting for other autonomous communities to join Lanzarote in the implementation of this tool, IN2 is already working on its application to, for example, the development of the Digital Green Certificate. In this case, and to avoid fraud, it is important to establish a certification system that guarantees that the document is original. IN2 already has the experience and knowledge acquired with the Lanzarote Covid Safe pilot test.
A long-standing contribution to the service of the tourism sector and people developed by IN2‘s team of professionals and in colaboration with the King´s College of London, Alastria and Continuam. Project promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Turismo Lanzarote.
